Hundreds of migrants arrive in UK via English Channel
According to the data, the total number of migrants arriving on nine small boats so far this year has reached 520. The first crossings of the year were detected on January 5.
This wave of arrivals follows a year of unusually high migration activity. In 2025, a total of 41,472 people crossed the English Channel in small vessels, nearly 5,000 more than the previous year.
The increase in crossings has persisted despite intensified UK government measures aimed at controlling irregular migration.
