UK Prepares to Rejoin Erasmus Exchange Program in 2027
An agreement allowing the UK to re-enter Erasmus, the European Union’s student mobility initiative, is anticipated to be officially announced Wednesday. This move is part of the UK government’s efforts to strengthen ties with Brussels, a media outlet reported.
The report, referencing unnamed sources, stated that the final aspects of the deal were finalized Tuesday between the UK and the EU, paving the way for British students to take part in the program.
Under the Erasmus Plus arrangement, UK students will be able to engage in vocational training placements throughout the EU, as well as academic exchanges at universities, according to the agreement.
Sources informed the newspaper that EU students attending UK universities via the Erasmus program are likely to benefit from an international fee exemption, paying only the equivalent of domestic tuition, which is capped at £9,535 ($12,806) annually.
Meanwhile, UK students participating in Erasmus exchanges in Europe would continue paying their regular home university tuition fees as part of their UK degree courses.
